Calvario Monastery

Property History:

 

The Calvario Monastery was an antique Monastery  from The Recoletos Order of St. Francis.

Before the Monastery, the firts knowledge about the occupation of this hill was from the Bronze Age, also de romans took this place, and the Muslims because of his magnificent emplacement.

The creation of the convent was promoted by D. Juan Téllez Girón, IV Count from Ureña. In the XVII century, around 1648 the Monsatery at those time have 22 religious people, in the XVIII century in the cadastre appears than live in the convent around 40 religious people, after to the confiscation phase from the government to the church the convent was abandoned.

The name of the convent comes from the similitude between the sacred mount from the bible (the mount Calvary) and this hills.

The Convent:

The old convent need to be restored and preserved from the inclement weather, it’s a piece of history and need to be preserved for the next generations

The distribution of this place shows an evolution with the years, growing in size and also in members of this monastery, before than be dropped and reused like stables.

The old construction use different materials, like granite, ashlars of sandstone, limestone…

The convent already keep the underground cellar an the underground garner.

The new off plan project be born from the idea of protect the old construction and use it like a common space for the hotel, and build the hotel next to the old convent for keep it and respect this architecture  monument.

The Villa:

The actual villa need to be finished, have 3 floors distributed like this:

-Basement: have storage room, cellar, and a kitchen.

-1st floor: large living room, kitchen with pantry, fireplace with wood store room and bathroom.

-2nd floor: 4 bedroom with bathroom en suite, large garret and terrace.

In the project around the villa appears a spa, one restaurant, a large cellar, a parking, a golf a football arena, and apartments.

At this moment the property have olive trees (1.000 are young trees with irrigation system) and some old trees.
